how much hp would this sohc setup make??
d16y8 bottom end d16a1 pistons z6 head y8 intake manifold y8 head gasket, and all the usual bolt ons.thanks for any help.search did nothing....
Hmm... That's a good question. If you can find out around what the compression ratio would be, then we could get a good estimate! There were a couple guys in this forum that had a link to a D-series C/R calculator... Perhaps one of them will help you out with that.
But one question, why would you use the Y8 block? The Y8 bottom end is the weakest D-series block out there.... They are known for bearing/crank failure due to overrevving. I would recommend either a Z6 or A6 block, with that I believe the CR would be around 11:1? A nice cam, P&P, Y8 I/M and tuning you'll have yourself a niiice NA SOHC VTEC motor! Almost as good as mine! Heh, j/k.

omg that is sooo funny the only reason i was going to use the y8 is because a friend of mine spun a bearing in his from overreving it and left it in my garage, told me i could have it!he took the head though.what 1/4 mile times, hp #s do you get with your setup?
Wow...187 whp with a stock d16a6 and a blower? That's great. Do you need to run race gas to run it hard without detonating? I'm trying to figure out a good set-up for my 91 std and I didn't think that sort of power was available with a jrsc on an Si motor without internal mods. Any more info. on your set-up would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich
p.s. About your sig, MY camaro actually would keep up, but it's not stock

ya that was on 104, not really hard core race gas but that was all i could get before the dyno run,im using a s-afc and a msd btm,i was only taking out about 3/4 deg timing when it was on the dyne, and my a/f was steady at 11.5.
