I need to change my engine oil, and i was wondering if the engine oil is used as a tranny fluid too, and which engine oil would you choose for a CRX?

Well first off yes you CAN use rehular motor oil for the tranny. But there are better things out there like Honda MTF or GM Syncromesh. Those will be better for your tranny since they contain friction modifiers that your tranny needs plus better over all protection.
As for which motor oil this is a pointless thread first off do a search it has been beaten to death many many times before and plus your going to get so many different opinions on what to use. Some people like this and other like that. Find a good brand and try it out stay away from the cheap stuff and you will be fine.
*EDIT* OK even though plenty of people will disagree with me......Getting synthectic oil is pointless UNLESS it has been in there from basically the start you shouldnt break in a motor with synthetic since it is such a slippery oil but after the break in period you can use it with great results. But I can tell you this if you ahve a motor with say 100,xxx miles on it and it has been ran with regular oil its whole life and then you start using synthetic your not going to notice a difference except for maybe opil leaks that werent there before since its something the motor isnt used to running and when you have a older motor things tend to leak easier with the synthetic oil.

With an older engine you should use thicker oil
new cars use 5w20 if your compression isn't as good, go with 10w30 10w40 and so forth
with my old corolla that i had with 300k i used 20w50
you need it trust me depending on your motor

The older an engine gets, it requires higher viscosity oil engine. My Dad's Explorer is over 200k and if we use anything lower then 20w-50, he burns oil like crazy. 20w-50 does the trick. I guess it fills those gaps created by years of wear and tear....
