I got f*cked!
What up guys? alright check this **** out...i recently blew my motor in my 93 coupe...
so my friend finds trades me the motor for my GSR's...he says all it needs is to have the piston rings replaced....so im like alright...i drop the motor in the car and take it to the shop cuz i cant get it to start....the shop calls and tells me the motor in the car is crap...rings need to be replaced ( i already knew ), it needs a new iacv valve ( or something like that ), and there is a knock...he tells me its going to cost around 900 to fix that motor or he could get me a new better motor for around 600...im pissed...what should i do?
well i didnt think rings would cause the valve to be need replacing and rings shouldn't cause a knock? and he told thats all i needed to do...was replace the rings
quit being a puss and tear that **** down. im sure you can do it youself. i figure for the cost of lube, bearings, rings, and a new valve should be under $550. plus it would have 0 miles.

1300 bucks and u can get new bearings, oilpump, waterpump, forged rods, pistons, and seals. just rebuild it for boost and have a nice motor instead of just get it fixed.
New OEM Oil Pump $100
NEW OEM Water Pump $100
Seals $30
ACL Bearing kit with thrust washers , rod bearing etc.. $100
Bottom end Gasket Kit with orings $60
Rings $100
Pistons $200
Thermo $cheap
Hone $80-$100
Balance rotating assembly $depends
Remember, if the head ever needs work or rebuild, at least you don't have to take the motor out of the car.
So I guess what I am trying to say is that if you are planning to keep this motot for a while, you can rebuild the bottom now and do the head when time or money comes.
