what should I blame my blown out final drive on?
ok. this is kind of a long story.
i picked up a used Kaaz LSD and installed it in my GSR. At the same time I installed a new Fidanza Flywheel and ACT organic clutch with extreme pressure plate. It was all fine and dandy for a little while, then on my way home from an autocross event, the speedometer died. it would only register while accelerating. i was chalking it up to a bad sensor at the time. the tranny slowly started making a grinding sound so I pulled the VSS out to check it out. The gear looked fine. I went to take my friend for a ride to show him the noise it was making and when i shifted hard into 2nd gear the final drive gears ate each other up. After towing it back to my house, I pulled the tranny back out. Upon inspecting the differential, there was significant wear markings on the part that meshes with the VSS. My theory is that the VSS gear didn't quite fit right and the metal shavings coming off of it got inside the Kaaz, causeing the clutch discs to seize up, and when i shifted hard into 2nd the power was too much for both wheels to put down and the final drive gave out.
My concern is that could my new clutch be part of the problem? Is having a real stiff clutch with a LSD known to be a bad combination? The only reason I'm asking is I'm picking up a transmission and don't want to run into the same issue again.
what are other known causes for having a final drive go out like that? I should probably also mention the transmission only had 50,000 miles on it at the time with no grinds or anything.

when you installed the KAAZ, did you check to make sure the thrust shim was still in spec? Since the carrier was swapped, you might need a different sized shim...
i dont think have a stiff clutch would cuase that...what do u mean the diff. gear ate itself up..? is all the teeths on it all mest up..? who ever put it on..might not press the the vss gear on right..and that might cuase it not the line up right..although is the kazz lsd has the speedo gear already ingrave as part of the diff..and needs the new speed sensor shaft to match it up w.also the shims are important too...if u use the wronf shims it might cuase the lsd to move back and forth in the tranny...and that could grind things up..
