Default edit: Flywheel backed itself off.. HELP

Ok, never had a problemw ith my tranny until today. It had about 50K miles on it. ACT XTSS clutch and clutchmasters flywheel. i was in 5th gear on the highway and then as i was getting off I took it out of gear and it wouldnt go into a gear. I revved it and it went in but drove different. I pulled it out and it wouldnt go back into any gear. I pulled over and when I revved the engine, you could hear a rattling sound coming from it. The clutch still engages so i dont think i broke it. the rattling is more like a whizzing sound so Im wondering if it could be the fly wheel, but its not all the time, just over like 3000rpms. I had to start the car with it in 2nd gear and drive it to a safe parking spot and drove fine. It then went in and out of gear but the rattling is still there so I knw something is wrong. Any ideas?

Also, if I end up getting a new tranny.. what do you suggest? I have a GSR that will be turbo'd in a coupel months. Should I get a LS tranny for the longer gears, should I just get another GSR tranny and even up, or should I get a type r tranny for the LSD.

edit: Ok we pulled the tranny and noticed a spot on the inside of the bell housing that was worn down. We pulled the clutch apart and it was fine and no bolts were missing. Got to the flywheel and every bolt on it had backed off and two were sheered off at the ends. The flywheel had backed itself off and had worn down the edges of the teeth a tiny bit and left the worn spot in the casing. Im sure someone will have something to say about Clutchmasters being crap or whatever but has anyone ever heard of this kind of issue?

maybe your problem has something to do with the shift linkage. It could have problem getting into gear and/or staying in gear. If the gears weren't properly engaged it might make noises and have problem shifting.

It's just a thought.

i thought about that but the rattling (almost sounds like a bad exhaust pipe rattle that follows the revs) sounds more internal of the tranny. I just have to get the car on a trailer and take it to my buddy's shop. Once we get it apart or atleast up in the air, I might be lucky and find somethign less extensive thn what Im expecting.

Anyone else have a similar issue ever occur or anything? Any more suggestions?

I have had so many problems with act clutches the pressure plate straps that locate it on the housing break. (inspect with a fine tooth comb)

it's not clutchmasters that i have had problems it's ACT and your problem is because the bolts weren't torqued properly....
