so 3rd gear is pulling, when it hit around 6.7k rpm, its like vtec un-engaged and there was a loud hissing when vtec stopped pulling. The cel came on after and I have no clue whats going on.

the car is a 99 si with bolt ons

Maybe not enough oil= not enough oil pressure for the vtec solenoid? Try the tech forum. Maybe wiring too many things to consider. Good luck.

 

how long have you had the car? what did you change lately? has this happened before? any previous cel issues?

 

had the car a little over 2 years. I have to admit that its been through hell and back. Misshifted a couple times, had valves adjusted before. Random CELs. But before this incident everything ran fine. My car does seem to bog throughout the power band. It does feel like bad air/fuel mixtures.

 

Update:

I just reset the ECU and the CEL went off. When I rev my car, it bogs down close to zero rpm(car feelin like its finna cut off) and jumps back up to normal idle at 900

 

bummp im kinda haveing the same prob with my sohc vtec

 

what oil pressure has to be pressent for vtec to inguage?

 

i think its oil pressure from the oil pressure sending unit. or it could be how much oil you would have in the actual oil pan did you check to see how much oil you have had in there lately. Check your fluids oil and ignition components and be sure to pull codes even if they arent present.
