Default Losing power w/ vafc vs stock

i installed the vafc and i can't seem to make as much power as i did before i installed it. i have the vtec set at 5k. I dynoed the car but seems like i'm still not making as much power as before. any ideas as to why...not giving it enough fuel at vtec??

if you set the vtec engagement too low you will create alot of lag. (ths happened to my friends b16crx.) We raced when he had his vtec set at 4,600 and I beat him by 1 car, then we raced after he set it at 5,600 and he beat me by 3 cars.

not sure if 5000 is too low for your car though?? Just make sure to check ALL the settings.

hmmm... you need to get it dyno tuned. yes, you can set vtec... but your going to need to adjust air and fuel as well. you need to dyno chart to set the vtec anyways. you dyno it, and when your biggest power decrese is.... that is where you set vtec. EACH MOTOR IS DIFFERENT.

you will not be able to make power without a dyno and a good tuner. you should also try and get a wideband dyno to have it tuned. also your vetc engagement should be set they elkins911 described above. you want it to kick in when the smaller lobe's power peaks.

also you probably won't feel like your making power afterwards. i made 6 whp and barely noticed a difference.

i would say set it at about 4500 ... try to get the air/fuel mixture right ... if you don't tune it right, not only will your car be slower, you are also putting unecessary stress on your engine (ie. running lean or rich) ... get someone to help u tune it ... try 4000 all the way to 5000 and see what works for you ... but i would suggest 4500-ish is a good starting point ... i've heard of 10-20 whp gains between 4500-5000 rpm, but not much gains afterwards ... but to get the vtec spike in hp earlier in the rpm range can make quite a difference on the track

i dynoed the car and every time we richened or leaned the maps out, the air/fuel came out the same. we couldnt seem to make any power.

make sure it's hooked up right.

how much were you leaning/richening each time?
