Default 7 psi spring and only boosting 4 psi why?

everything is connected properly and the car pulls real nice but its only boosting 4 psi according to the boost gauge. would my 2.25 inch exhaust piping and CAT cause this? some one told me that if i got rid of the cat and went to 3 in that iwould boost the full 7 psi is that tru?

1.) You have a boost leak
2.) Your boost guage has a leak
3.) Your boost guage is innacurate
4.) To infinity and beyond!

There are a few ideas for you to check out. ;-)
Edit: Also make sure your vacuum source for the wastegate is behind the throttle plate.

Where is the gauge reading pressure from? Where is the wastegate line connected?

If you're sure everything is right and you're still getting 4psi, run open downpipe and see if you can build 7psi. If your gauge and wastegate are connected to the same vacuum source, and you still get 4psi... see if you can trade wastegates with someone for a test run.

Good Luck.

I had that same problem with my drag 3 kit, but I ended up spinning a rod bearing before I corrected the problem... Don't know how, just did! Are you using the delta wastegate? I would switch to tial!

Try hooking an air compressor up to your boost guage and make sure it is accurate first.

Then, check all of your vaccum lines and hoses for cracks.

It doesn't sound like a bad leak or you woiuldn't be building ANY boost.

What does your butt-dyno tell you? Or did you ever drive it at 7psi before?

Well, that's one reason you're reading less than 7lbs. You have pressure drop between the turbo and the intake manifold (intercooler, etc). If you tee the wastegate from somewhere else (FPR, manifold, brake booster, wherever) then you'll see higher boost. You may have a small leak somewhere else, 3psi of pressure drop seems like a lot.

Make sure you plug the hole on the turbo if you decide to take my advice, otherwise boost will leak there too.

I am having a similar problem accept I am not seeing any boost. My waistegate opens, I can hear the turbo spooling, but it doesn't really feel like much of a power gain, and my autometer boost gauge isn't reading anything maybe an occasional 1psi

I have a 9 psi spring in my tial waste gate and after i installed my fmic i dropped 2 psi. also check your exhaust unbolt your down pipe and go for a quick joy ride. See what happens then go from there.

I have an intercooler and the stock greddy psi is 5.5 psi. How come my VAFC reads .38-.41 mmhg which equates to about 5.5-5.8 psi? Should I have had a boost drop too?

Now that's boost leak or some real problem. And as for the 4 psi on supposedly 7 psi spring, I think it's just pressure drop, i'm experiencing the same thing before, but i turn the nut ontop of the wastegate to increase the pressure (kinda to the max like 8-9psi) now it's boosting 6-7psi (manifold)

This is what my friend told me to do when I was having the same problem.
