Where is it located???
I don't know if they moved them around, LS vs. GS-R or '95 vs. '96, but here's how it is on my '95 GS-R...
Under the distributor, near the nozzle for the upper radiator hose, there's 2 sensors. The one with 2 wires is the ECT sensor - coolant temperature sensor for the ECM. The one with only 1 wire is the sender for the dashboard temperature gauge.
The radiator-fan switch is located in the thermostat housing. That's farther back, at the lower radiator hose.

I'd reach them from the top. You might want to remove the air intake tube so you have more room.
Anti-freeze will come running out the hole, so just be ready to put the new one in quickly. Then maybe you'll only lose a cup or so.
