I need a new hood and trunk lid for my Civic and I was considering getting fiberglass pieces.

A fiberglass hood costs $205 while a hood skin is $125.
The fiberglass trunk is somthing like $230 or so I think.

Do you guys think the weight saving would be worth it?

 

I just talked to the shop that seels these pieces.

The trunk lid weighs 7 LBS and does not open/close.
The ydid how ever say they can make it extra thick around the area where the hinges would be so that it can be hinged. It also does not use the stock taillights on the trunk lid.

The fiberglass hood weighs 12 LBS and can be hinged while the hood skin weighs 5 LBS and must be held on with 4 hood pins.

Liek I said though..I need a new hood and trunk lid (wreak) and I was condisering these pieces as replacments. The hood isnt really a problem - Ill probably get that.

The trunk lid is what Im wondering about. The shop said they can custom make it to work (making it thicker). I dont use my trunk much so it woulndt be that big of a deal...but Id have to at least be able to open it.
