Default How to mitigate damages

As some of you may already know I rear ended a guy about 2 weeks ago. I havent had time to fully inspect the car but ive found a couple broken peices of plastic which appear to be from the headlight. And my coolant resevior is empty.. as for symptoms of the car.. it appears that the steering wheel shakes a bit more.. and my idle is messed up when I draw power ie. roll up/down windows, my rpms fluctuate from 650-1k can a bad alternator do this? or is it from the accident?

So as im looking at the papers my insurance sent me... it says "you have the responsibility to mitigate your loss including rental, towing, labor and storage fees as they relate to this claim."

so I guess I have no choice but to take my car to a shop (I despise shops) . Who here knows of a good, legit, reputable, shop here in so cal area? I want my car to be in good hands.. I have done everything on my car as of yet.. (with the exception of friends helping me, and the couple times I took my car to acura )

please help me out

for this serious of an accident i would bring it to a dealer because they know the car best and wont skimp out on you.
