Default Storing!

I'm storing my Type R for 8 months and I want to know what you guys think about storing it. I heard people say that I should jack it up but is there any differences if I just leave it on the ground?

i dont think so. thats like saying jack it up when you're not driving it. maybe put on some donut tires cause
it might create a flat spot from sitting on the same spot for a long time. not sure about the tire thing.

Yeah the main reason you want to Jack it up is it is going to be stored for any length of time is that you don't want to create flat spots. Some also talk of sus being affected somehow but I don't see how that can be true.

Stored my R last winter (November-March) and no flat spots on lovely Kumho 712s.

If you aren't going to jack you car up, put some cardboard under the tires (i.e., drive the car onto a few pieces of cardboard that will keep the tires off the cement). Like bike tires, the rubber will be adversely affected by long term contact to the cement without any movement.

It is always better to leave the suspension totally unloaded, too.

If my R was full race, and I trailered it back and forth to the track, I'd leave it on jack stands all the time, except while on the trailer and at the track. Unloaded suspension = longer damper life.

I get to store mine way too much being in the Mil. I just put on my snow rims, put stabil in the gas, unhook the batt and have a fresh oil change in the engine. So far no problems with tires, gas or dead batteries.

I think the tires on the cement thing is more of an urban legend like not putting your battery on cement. To each his own I guess.

I have seen cars sit in the same spot for a long time and it leaves the tread pattern on the concrete, but I don't think it hurts the tires. It will make a flat spot , but that will go away after a short drive.

Now, with that oil, do you drain it and put some fresh oil in again before you start it up?

I usually put mine on jack stands when I store mine, and I can get someone to start it every week till it gets warmed up.
