I had that same problem. I believed it was a short in the wires behind the head unit. I jiggled the head unit around and it went away. I was too lazy to pull it out and find the short.

make sure that if there is any wire exposed on the positive and negative wires that they're not touching because that caused static for me when i had my speakers ghetto rigged.
