Brake pad question, what do most prefer for the street...
i've read about aftermarket pads like Hawk, Axxis MM, Fastbrakes etc.
but have only used the Axxis MetalMaster once a couple years ago with cross drilled rotors. i wasn't too impressed really.
now i'm using newer Teg brakes all the way around with stock rotors, calipers and pads, but the rear pads are wearing down and it's time to replace them then move on to the front soon. it's a street driven car that may have a bit of track time here and there but i don't need anything crazy. i may do upgraded rotors with SS lines in the future, whenever the stock ones no longer satisfy me.
from experience what brand/style recommendations do you have?
i plan on getting new pads very soon.
thanks for any input on this.

If you don't mind dust on your wheels, then I highly recommend Hawk HP+, if you hate brake dust then use the Hawk HPS, not nearly the braking of the HP+ but you have to have some trade offs for low dust.
And don't waste your money on cross drilling or slotting. It is all a load of crap. The only REAL reason for cross drilling a rotor is to remove some of its weight if you find your heat sink (brake rotor) can afford to run a little hotter. It is purely for street racer wannabees.
The Metalmasters are not too bad, one step below HPS. I've heard good things about the Axxis Metalmaster Ultimates. AEM pads completely suck, I managed to get a set to completly dissintigrate after one track session (not racing, just lapping) I don't think too highly of the EBC brakes as well.
Performance friction street compounds are nice, I just find them way too overpriced for what you get, especially compared to Hawk products.

from your experiences do the Hawk HP+ pads require a much higher operating temperature to function correctly?
or are they close the HPS pads with better friction for more stopping power?
i don't mind cleaning my wheels a few extra times here and there, they are only stock GSR wheels anyway.
as for the rotor 'upgrades' i was still thinking about oversized ones from Fastbrakes, no slotting or cross-drilling etc. but i don't have $$ for that right now.
thanks for the response.
