Default Type R head

What do you think about putting a Type R head on a GSR block. I plan on overboring the block and building the bottom for NOS, but I dont know if spending the money for a ported and polished head is worth the difference it cost between that and a Type R head. Also, is there any need to change to a Type R ecu from the gsr if i do so with the head?

just put type r cams in your GSR head. and just get your gsr head ported and polished. it is worth the differance. i have heard of people gaining upwards of 25WHP from head porting. and no dont screw with the ecu.

agreed, depending on where you are tho, if you can bring the head yourself to to P&P it would save you the shipping charges. Also think if you are not going to get new pistons the type R head will bump your compression down.

as said the itr head will lower compression a tad. Remember the itr head is only a very mild port and polish. You will need to get a vafc or your ecu chipped if you go with the itr head.

yes you can, there is plenty of room for improvement on the head to make it flow better
