any of you guys need a Universal Camera Mount??
i have a friend from renn art selling nice camera mounts.
RENN-ART Designed Exclusive Products
Universal Camera Mount
Finally, a camera mount that can actually mount to virtually windshield(or glass surface for that matter).
By allowing more freedom of placement, field testers, tuners, and customers alike can use the Universal Camera Mount to record tuning sessions, create home movies, or anything else that comes to mind. Mount it to the passenger window or the rear window and record your driving habits. Use your imagination!
Why the UCM?
It's a simple solution to an annoying issue. "Why can't there be a non car-specific camera mount, so I can take it anywhere?"
With our unique hinge-lock mechanism, the camera mount can be adjusted to various glass surfaces while keeping the camera level. this allows for the ability to take the camera out of one car and put it in a completely different one.
What gives the camera mount it's extended versatility are the 3 industrial 3" diameter suction cups, threaded onto the mounting plate. Another feature is the adjustable mounting slot and rubber pad that the camera mounts on to. This allows for EVEN MORE different types of cameras to fit our mount.
We have a hi-res and low-res video example of the Universal Camera Mount in use.
What's included with the Universal Camera Mount kit is:
Instructions
One (1) Pre-assembled and inspected Camera Mount
Two (2) Allen keys for dissassembly and adjustment
One (1) Camera Mount **** for mounting
Things to note before purchasing the Universal Camera Mount:
Be sure your camera fits by downloading our fitement guide here
This mount is meant to hold most Mini-DV cameras and most digital still cameras. A heavier camera will result in poor results. The UCM is best used with cameras weighing approx. 5 pounds.
Quantities and colors are limited, so call or e-mail us if you have a special request.
here is some pictures
email me at hatchcrap@hotmail.com for the price if your interested
here is a vid with the camera.. has min shakingness

Looks like a quality piece. Should get some interest in here, possibly even from myself, since I'm thinking of getting a digicam with movie capabilities.
*EDIT* I can't watch the vid at school, but once I get home I'll check it out.

I would be concerned with these mounts passing tech for anything other than an auto-X. As in, I don't think you could use them during a race, or even an HPDE...
that will be up to the inspector at the race track. Howver, note that SCCA REQUIRES a safety strap to hold down the camera in addition to whatever mount you use (and a lot of organizations tend to follow SCCA rules)
just FYI.
Also, your force (regardless of how big you are) is nothing compared to the force of an impact at speed (40g range). Food for thought.

God help us if things are "SCCA Improved."
Sorry man, not picking on your grammar, but that just struck me as hilarious.

Make an optional roll bar mount that can be clamped on and secured with a strap around the camera and bar and you're golden. The suction cup application won't work for W2W...
Nice design and clean manufacturing!

That's a lot of money for something that isn't definitely w2w legal or track-day safe, and still about 1.5x the price of the one everyone else uses for those purposes, see here:
http://www.ioportracing.com/Me...de=CM
This new product does look nicely machined and/or well engineered for sure. And it does look like it's designed for people without rollbars (i.e. autocrossers or low level drag racers in particular.) So I'm sure it has its merits... Therefore I'm not trying to ****-block this internet sales pitch too much but I do ask... why plastic suction cups instead of hard mounted nuts, bolts, straps, etc? Talk about "room for error" in comparison!!!
I personally wouldn't use it on a road course, for fear that a $2k digital video camera would fly off the window and hit me in the face, causing LOTS of expensive and/or painful distress in the process. I'm not saying this would happen, but there's a lot better chance of that with suction cups vs. legitimate mounting hardware and/or retaining straps IMHO.
Just one opinion and nothing more,
Jon

The finish quality looks nice, but the suction cups are weak. You can get much heavier duty vaccuum pump cups that might work better, but still might not be HPDE legal.
Looks like a good product for auto-x though. If you've got an extra $150 laying around.

I use a Hama suction-cup mount at HPDE events. It works pretty well, but is of the lever-activated type. *Any* camera mount should be tethered to some solid part of the car. Even the bolt-on variety should be strapped down. So suction cups aren't inherently bad, but any camera mount could be dangerous if not backed-up with some kind of secondary safety device.
