Default getting new system , wiring question

ok im going to get 2 15 inch rockford punch hx2 subs. (dual 4 ohm)
to power im going to get rockford 500s amps * one per sub... and it puts out 500+w rms @ 4 ohms.

so exactly how would i wire the sub and to the amp to get the most i can get out of it. would i wire it in series to keep the 4 ohm? or does series break into 1ohm.

any help would be cool. thanks

If you run one amp per sub it will see a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load.

so since i cant have the sub at 4 ohms and the amp having a mono load of 4 ohms, will it mess up the subs or amp if i run the sub at 2 ohms and the amp at 4? because i want to run the amp at mono 4 ohms, so i can have everything i can get out of it but i dont want to mess up the subs!

i dont really know too much about impedence so any help will be good.
thanks
