Getting a turbo, getting new pistions, I have a question.......
I have a 94 teg GSR with 107k miles on it and i want to replace the pistions with new ones, becuase i am going trubo soon and i want some good protection. I know that i will have to hone the cylinder walls, but is their anything else that i'll need to do? I guess i am just going to be replacing them with GSR pistions to keep the compresion the same for the turbo.
On another question, i have a friend that is willing to sell me his SIR 2 block complete with everything except the head. It has 10k on it and he is going to sell it to me for $200.00. I was thinking of just swaping the blocks and using my GSR head, ported and polished. Do you guy's think i should do this instead of getting new pistions and rods? Or will it not work as well. The SIR 2 block is a 1.6L i think but it has lower compression which is good for turbos, right?
Well tell me what you guy's think about my situation, i would like any advice you guy's can give.
Thanks

Pistons do not really wear out... replace the rings if you plan on keeping stock pistons. If I were you, I would just put some JE 9.5:1 or 10.0:1 pistons in your current block. You might have to bore it out .020 since you have decent mileage on the block. I would stay away from the B16 block, just keep your GSR block.

Why not do a comression and leakdown and if everything looks good the put the turbo and if you need a rebuild do it then. but if you rebuild do it right the first time and put some good stuff in there.

I second that, test to make sure everything is okay, and then turbo it. Just don't overdo the boost and you'll be fine. When time comes along for a rebuild or if you want to boost more reliably, drop in some new pistons, rods, head bolts, rod bolts and maybe valve springs.
if you want to boost that high i'd suggest you go with a JE pistons with a low CR. Build up your bottom end. Good luck. Didn't mention the fuel (redline) thanks for stating it
Was worryin about the bottom end to boost higher and safer but it wouldn't help w/o a good fuel upgrade

and what are you doing for fuel cause the bottem end ain't **** withour fuel and timing control!!!!!!!
I think you need to take a look at your budget and go from there. Do some searchs on the FI form and you will find all the info you need!!!

I have a good budget, i am going to be upgrading my enitre fuel system and buying a Jacobs I.C.E pack for ignition. Now what do you mean build up the bottom end. the only think i can think of is pistion, rods and seals, it their anything else. Do i have to do anything to my crank?
Thanks

9.5:1 je pistons...some strong rods...shot peen(sp) the crank...reinforce the cylinder walls...check out JG engine dynamics...they sell some nice blocks...they do cost a decent amount tho

can u throw in rc 440cc injectors with hondata on a turbo gsr with stock internals??? i'm asking cause i heard that the highest that one could do on a stock turbo integra was 310cc injectors.
440cc injectors will lean out at stock fuel pressure at 15psi. Get 550cc (you'll need a resistor box from an older integra/civic cause 550 cc injectors only come peak and hold not saturated)
