Default noob situation...

So i was originally going to build another all motor ls/vtec...BUT i found a steal of a deal on a gsr block with eagle h-beams, arias 9:1 372914 of 4032 aluminum... along with brand new pump and stuff...but thats not my question the guy said that there was about 800 miles on the setup and the pistons sure do look like it...i can still see the crosshatching in the cylinders. theyre 81mm. Sorry but here is my question is there a way that i can check the rings without the engine all together and running?? like while its still on my stand. sorry im a total noob to this turbo stuff but figured my question belongs here given the fack that its a turbo set-up block....

well before buying this block i was never considering turbo but now idk im still deciding. but its going to the machine shop soon because its got grease and the previous owner before me painted it. also i want to get the cylinders checked for out of roundness and at the minimum a hone...also this is my first build all on my own so i could use a few pointers...like ive taken everything off of the block except for the girdle and the main caps and the rods and pistons...is it ok to bring them the block that way so they can check it or should i tear it down completely...also im very unsure of what size bearings to use with these eagle rods but they should be able to tell me right?

you will have to check or have them check the clearances to find out what size bearings. its not hard to do with plastigauge. go to youtube and just type in plastigauge and their are quite a few videos explaining how its done and it can be bought from any parts store.
