Default Reading spark plugs

I'm looking for information on the color a spark plug should have when a performance 4-stroke like a B16 is working properly. I checked mine today and it sure seems to be running lean. The ground electrode was white right up to the place where it attaches to the plug's threads. Not even a light brown/tan color. I proceeded to replace the fuel filter and check if something was clogged, still got white plugs. I know it should probably run on the lean side, but if I remember correctly my old D16 plugs where at least a bit brown-tan.
Thanks for info
