Default 100LL gas/fuel okay to use?

Since I can't find premium gas around here in AZ, I found out one of the airports sells what they call "100LL" for $2.35 a gallon. Is that okay to use?

Thanks.

I don't think it would be a good ideal becuase the "LL" means Low Lead. Lead will stick to your O2 sensor and cat. Keep looking for unleaded gas.

Yeah, well I can get unleaded low octane, but that is crap and I have to wait in line for 1+ hours.

theres currently a gas supply shortage in Az. Most gas stations if they are even open, only have 87 or 89 available.

Onyx, I plan on buying 87 or 89 which ever is available and putting in octane booster. Not ideal, but there really is no alternative for now. Most stations ran out of 91 on saturday.

then take 89...even 87 should be fine. your knock sensor will go very happy and your timing will be retarded, but

just dont go rpm happy on the car, and octane booster = crap. you'd literally need like 5 gallons of it to make a difference from 87.

imho i wouldnt drive if i didnt need to.

what happened to AZ that theres a fuel short?

Pipeline broke, takes 2 weeks to fix.

So no one thinks Low Lead 100 octane is okay? Mustang guys in AZ seemed to think it was okay.

You could possibly consider mixing some Toluene (sp?) into the 87/88 octane, to bring the rating up..

if you dont have a cat or are not worry about your o2 sensor , then you can run leaded fuel , like c-12 which is equal to 110 octane

Don't put 100LL in your car, and don't put unleaded premium gasoline in your airplane.

I believe the knock sensor stops working around 5k, so like soup **** said, dont redline your car, or your motor wont pull back your timing and you might hear some knock knock in your motor.

NO.

Just use whatever (normal) gas they have and your car will be fine, just take it easy for a while.

As a pilot, I'll second this one. No you cannot use 100 Low Lead in a car that requires unleaded gas. There's lots of things this will screw up as the others have mentioned.

do you not understand why there is lead in LL gasoline? the lead is in a liquid state and is used to lubricate the brass valve guides in heads that do not have hardened valve guides and seats. if you put a LL gas into your car, the lead will clog injectors, build up aroune the valve seats, toast the cat, kill the O2 sensors, etc.

we used 100-octane LL durring a race event drove the car 120 miles to the event
on 93octane car drove perfect crvtec setup with je 12-5-1 compression piston
about a mile from the track the gas light came so we filled it up with 3-gallons of 100-octane-LL fisrt run halfway down the track the car frickin misfired like mother!!! never had this happend ran consitant 12.4's all day with 100-oct UL
allmotor i will never!! use the 100-LL again period.
just some advise for you to think about its not worth it...
