? for those running 17" TE37 or similar
I was thinking about changing rims for the street because it seems to be easier to find high perf. tires in 16" and 17" sizes. I was set on getting some volk te37s in 16" but they are rather pricey. However, the 16" would actually weigh less than the stock rims. I have found some other rims that are only available in a 17" (or other sizes but no 16") and the 17" weighs a tad less than the stock rim which is comp. to 17" volk TE 37s and others. OK here's my question:
Did you notice any degradation in acceleration when you switched to a 17" rim that weighs the same as stock?
Any change in braking?
Did it improve the handling characteristics?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I thought about that and that's why I'm trying to get some butt dyno's from people that are using this particular setup. I also understand that the farther the weight is from the hub the more it will increase rotating mass. I'm also thinking that the overall package (tire/rim) might end up weighing close to stock. So how about it? There has to be someone on this board who has 17" volk on their ITR?
Anybody?
Anybody?

I not sure what a butt dyno measures, but I bet mine would well.

Jimmy - not to burst your bubble and other's w/ 17s, but having 17" was the worst thing that I did to my previous Civic hatch. You said it's gonna be for the streets and I would have to say that 17s really take away from driving in the streets. I was having to avoid every single potholes, bumps, etc. so that I would not get any kind of bend in my rims. Also, in the streets you will hardly notice the extra traction. FYI,I had 17" RHevo CP-08.
Also, there are far more performance tires in 15" selections than in 17" selections. Try going to http://www.tirerack.com and see how many performance tires you get in 205/40/17 or 205/45/17 variety... you won't find many and if you do they easily cost twice as much as the 15" tires.
IMO, 17's are good for showing... stick with lightweight 15s or 16s, if you really want to to notice any kind of performance gain.
