Default Rim decision thread.....

I've been going through hell deciding which rims to go with, and I've got it down to 2.

Konig Heliums (bronze), and 5zigen fighters(titanium)

I'm thinking 17's since the heliums only come in 15 or 17, and the 17's are around 15lbs each. I have no idea on the weight of the Zigens, but I'm thinking 16 or 17 if I choose them....

Will there be a serious performance loss going with the 17's over 16's? I know these questions have been asked a million times before, but will a 16" rim be better than a lightweight 17?? I just want to make the right decision, and I'm going to buy them within the next couple days. Any thoughts or opinions appriciated....

definitally go with the heliums, they are great wheels and bronze is the best color wheel on a dark green car.

yes, 17 is worse than a 16 performance wise, because more of the weight is farther away from the hub than the 16.

if you worried about performance, do NOT i repeat DO NOT buy 17" rims, you will kick yourself like i did..... my ****** top speed went down 20mph... waste of money, go with 15" or 16"

Top speed should increase with 17" wheels. You have a larger rolling diameter, therefore changing your gearing (making it a little longer). Your acceleration will suffer though.

Edit: With 15-17" rims there isn't much of a size difference in the overall diameter. Most 17" wheel and tire packages are less than 1/2" bigger than 15's. The difference in acceleration comes from the rotation mass being farther away from the center of the wheel.

But at the same time, since your gearing is longer, your car might not be able to go any faster because it will have a harder time pushing through the wind. A lot of car reach their top speed in 4th gear because in 5th, they dont have enough ***** to go faster.

push through the wind, hahahhahaha. NO its because of greater rotating mass that makes it slower. 1 lb of rotating mass= 100lbs in the car, so heavier wheels is like having a big fat girl riding around with you all the time, except there is no fat person smell.

I prefer 26" rims on my bike, they just roll a little bit faster than a 15-17 would. If you're set on 16 or 17 inch rims I would DEFINITELY recommend you go with the 16" because there a lot more tire choices - it's a pretty common size for kids.
