I'm about to order some RE730's as well. They're supposed to be a decent all season tire, right?

probably not a good choice for an all-season tire. buy some snows, you live in MI for God's sake. i live in VT, our winters are probably very similar. i have a set of hakkas for the winter, they're the best (and pricey - $100/tire!).

Well.. I don't want just snow tires. I want an All-Season tire. Because I don't have other wheels/tires for the other seasons.

Other All-Season tire suggestions then?

i dunno, never bought any all seasons . . . wait - i did buy a set of dunlop d60/a2's a while back, those were decent all seasons for the money (205/50/15's for $65/tire, i believe . . . that was 4 years ago, though).

just get some steelies for the winter, they're like $25/rim.

SP5000 for allseason is a good choice, hakkas i hear are crazy in the snow, the potenzas in the snow, from a friend's experience says they are almost useless. Stock michelins arent that bad....cept stopping on a hill

They rock, I've had them on my car since Feb. and have had no complaints. They are all totally bald but thats what 2 days of driving school and about 12 autoxs do to em.

Well, hopefully after this winter the stock wheels will become my Winter wheels/tires so I don't want to buy any other rim right now.

I was looking at the Dunlop Sp5000, but I was looking for a tire with a size of 205/50/15 and I think the SP5000 only come in 195/55/15.

Hmmm.. decisions decisions..

Wait, tirerack shows the Sp5000 in 205/50. But the 'Asymetrical' tires.

WTF does that mean? Are there different versions of the Sp5000 tires?

you want the asymetrical one, it looks cooler j/k
but if i remember correctly, they have different thread patterns for low profile tires

So buying the Asymetrical tire as opposed to some other SP5000 tires has no adverse affects?

Back to my original question for a sec?
Are the re730's cool or what?

How are they for launching?
How are they for cornering?
How are they for daily? rain?
etc etc.

supposedly, they rock in the rain, and have very good treadwear, but are kinda slippery for the first 500 or so miles (depends on your driving style, i would guess).

i wasnt telling him to buy them, i was just commenting on the fact that they arent THAT bad in the snow, like considering how bad they are dry/wet, they are just as bad in the snow(but compared to summer tires, they are better), i have stock michelins , and ask anyone who rode in my car last winter, it was fine, one guy asked if i had snow tires on.....maybe it's the driver

-kb0t, who watched too many World Champ Rally programs on speedvision.

as for the re730

I want these, they are good rain tires
good cornering tires
good autoX tires
not so great for drag though, they have stiff sidewalls, my friend had a brand new set and went dragging, it wasnt that great for the 60ft, but maybe it's too new.
but in the rain he said they were good. not as grippy as his sp9000 he had before in the dry

I have had these tires for over a year. About 20K miles and 1 autocross...
I like them. Good all season tires, but I live in california. I still have plenty of ware. The only thing I really don't like is the loudness of these tires on the hwy. After about 10,000 these tires got loud on my car. Maybe because my cambers are slightly negative.

I've had mine since April. They're good peformers, but not as good as the RE010s. But they will last a lot longer, hopefully.

I've had mine since April 2000. I'm very happy with them and I'd guess they've got 6 months left...about 23000 miles.
