When I'm at low idle and I floor it, it takes a good half a seccond to responds and then begins raising slowly at first, until it gets to about 3-4k, then it pulls up pretty fast. It gets really annoying when revving up for a downshift. Is this just to be expected since I'm running similar horsepower to a stanley steamer, or does it sound liked it's choked up somewhere? anyone else with stock d series notice this?

 

check your throttle cable........might be a little slack....

 

Its just normal. At low revs its normal to have sluggish acceleration unless you are superchraged. But, if you are in third gear or higher, just downshift and then punch it, much nicer response that way.

thats your 108 pounds of torque working for ya . its normal for a civic.

Actually it sounds a lot like a vacuum leak. Start checking for broken hoses or possibly a leak in the intake gasket.

 

Yup, if I have mine at a dead and floor it, it takes a long time to get going. That's with the slack in the throttle cable shortened. It's just normal for our torqueless d's.

 

I checked the throttle cable tension and it seemed normal, I'm still checking for intake leaks, but I'm thinking it must just be the powerless engine. Every time it lags I'll just have to remember how infrequently I fill it with gas to calm me down.
