old filter wrench
to answer your question, yes, they do work. Just make sure you get the smaller size for the small honda filters.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by SuShiBoiiii »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">yea they work i got one of those...takin the oil filiter is ez as cake...haha</TD></TR></TABLE>
FYI: A couple weeks ago when I went to the dealer to get a filter and oil the guy told me the next time I come in to get the filter and oil for my next change the filter will look different but will still work the same way. The filter will be smaller in diameter than the ones we're used to be seeing. The new ones are just a little bigger than the gasket diameter. The guy said they are making the new filters smaller because the new cars have less room to work with and the smaller filters will help in changing the filter. So make sure you buy the right size wrench for the new filters.

If you want the old style filters just ask for an s2000 one. They are made by toyo roki and same size as the "old" filters.

take an old filter to the autostore and buy the filter wrench cap for $3-4 instead of buying the OEM tool. LIke same stuff at a fraction of the price.
and yea, ive read on numerous boards that honda has a new oil filter now that will replace the common one we are all used to seeing. It's either smaller in diameter or shorter in length, I forgot which. But its supposed to have more or less the same capicity as a filter. They asked dealerships to use up their current supply of the old filters and migrate the new ones in. I'm sure you can still buy the older filter from any aftermarket maker if you want from autostores.

hmm...I didn't know that. Doesn't really bother me though, just as long as they work the same.

i would suggest going to walmart and buy the piece for like $3 to fit on the ratchet. i got the fram equivalent filter to match the size before buying it.
so honda is using a redesigned filter even for the older motors?? i know for the new civics they have a very small filter. i just bough some filters for the accord the other day and noticed they were different. they were made in usa by filtech and not the canadian fram ones. they look similar, but a tad different.

why would honda want to make a smaller filter? I have often thought about trying different filters to find a bigger one, with more capacity anyway.

Hot tip on WRONG SIZED strap wrenches (also known as the strap wrench you found at your uncles house from 1967).
If the wrench is too loose, wrap a length of newspaper around the oil filter a few times cut the width of the canister. Works like a charm getting off small diameter filters...allows it to grab...
