Default JDM B18C-R, unknown vacuum line?

Does anybody have any idea what this line goes to? It's the small gray line near the larger brake booster hose in this pic, coming out the back of the intake manifold. The engine is a 99 JDM ITR B18C. The hose came already attached when we got the engine swap, and is about 14" long.

That would be a simple solution... I wonder what it's for on JDM cars.... anyone else have an idea?

No clue as to what it is. But if you remove it, the idle will be effected. Basically, it will bring the idle up about 250-300 rpms.

I had it unplugged on the stock ecu and it just idled high. But I guess depending on your set up, that would happen too.

I just went to check it out on my car and it looks like it goes to a black box looking thing underneath the manifold. Hopefully you have this too. I don't know what it is. The "black box" has two hose outlets. One hose goes to the charcoal canister and the other is to the other end of the vacuum hose you are referring to. My shop had to "mickey mouse" a larger hose over the end on the "black box" and stick the vacuum hose in the larger hose and held it in place with a clamp. I'll have to re-do that one day.

Hope this helps. Sorry, my camera just died and I don't have any pics. If I can get some I'll post them up. Although the angle will make it tough for a good picture.

It goes all the way to the charcoal canister.

The "Little black box" that the vacuum line goes to is the evap purge. It is part of the emmisions control system.

Basically it vents vapours captured in the charcoal canister into the intake tract at startup.

You can just plug the fitting into the IM if you like ... but the smog police may be ansy

Cheers

when i dug around in the engine bay today i couldn't find a place to plug it into. nothing on the evap canister for it. nothing on the charcoal canister looked like it would fit either. if i plug it the idle comes up a little too high for my liking.

If you could look and find out for us that would be great. I hate working on swaps and not having them run right.
