Default Toda spec D's

Is there any chance that you could use these cams on the street or is that just plain stupid?? I'm new to making all motor power and would like more info since I want to build a all motor car for the street. Oh and it doesn't have to pass smog tests either. Any info would be much appreciated.

Works good with the following

2+ Liter
14+ compression

I wouldn't personally use a cam with over 300 gross duration with less than 1.9 liters for the street.

What's Erik's recommendation?

of coarse you can use them on the street. however it all depends on how you use them. if your putting them to their full potential, then im sure you will goto work and come back with at least 5 tickets. if you put them in a stock motor, then theres no point. you would probably lose a grip of power from compression loss with the long duration and overlap.

if you can drive the car down the 1320, then why wouldnt you be able to drive them down the street...??

I might be trying a set to compare them to my cams on my future street car/test mule.

I run them on the street. The non-VTEC lobes make gobs of torque. The compression on my motor does not let these cams work so well in VTEC though. The car runs good, don't get me wrong, but the VTEC lobes are so big, that power up top is not that impressive. New motor in the works to better utilize the big cams.

i used mine on the street on my last 2 motors. they work great but you have to put your foot in it when you hit vtec or it'll bogg.
ps hey rocket, lemme know if you wanna dyno some.

Cool. Please PM. TrackMasters helps me with dyno time for my products and research.

i ran 13.0 @ 106 with a 1.79 60 ft in a civic coupe with a gsr tranny in pomona.
i never checked the clearance but i advanced the intake cam 1.5 degrees on:
ls block 85mm
11:1 je pistons(custom w/deeper vavle reliefs)
eagle rods
b16 head pnp 5angle valve job

At least 13+:1. Welded combustion chambers, thinner head gasket, etc. then clay.
As I have discovered, these particular cams need lots of compression to work.

84mm GSR engine-12.5:1 pistons, Type-R head ported and cc'd to 84mm (mistake, gave away some compression), Toda valve springs, Portflow retainers.
Working on another motor as we speak.

I drive it on the street all the time, even fine with 1.8 motor and 12.5:1 compression Endyn pistons. You need to adj with slight overlap only, not the overlap from the spec sheet that erick has.

The top end likes a lot of fuel despite *low* compression and small displacement, those cams will max out 310cc injectors on a miled 1.8 liter.
One of the 1.8 liter motors i use produced 224whp/ 149 lb-ft torque with ITBs and those cams, so they do something. JUNs are similar too with a 1.8 motor, you only notice the difference in cam profile as you go bigger in displacement ... and higher compression as well.
