Default Swap order ... b18c1 + boost + ecu

I don't have all that much money, but I do have a hankerin' for a swap on my 98 EX Coupe. I have read through this forum for a while, and have decided that I probably want to go the b18c1 built for turbo (arp bolts and low comp pistons) + b16 head + hondata, but I don't have the cash to do it all right now. I think that I have enough for the swap + engine work.

Is it possible/OK to drive around with the engine built for boost without boost? What ECU would I use? Or should I just use a GSR ECU and know that I will run a little lean until I get the turbo in there? Perhaps use the NOS trick and put a "clamp" on the fuel return line to up the fuel pressure?

Also, when you all complete a turbo upgrade, do you get your car towed to the tuning shop, or can you limp along well enough to drive it to get it tuned? I'm just scared of blowing the motor up after turbo ...

the guy turboing at 191k is a little nuts.
For the main guy, however, yes you can run on an engine built for boost without the turbo, which is what I would do if I were you. You shouldn't run lean, and DO NOT put a clamp on your return line. Get an Adj. FPR if you have to. Also, as far as tuning? ehhhh. Just make sure your af is good and you can drive around on it for a while.

This assumes that my 02 sensor is running correctly, right?

After the turbo? How would I test the A/F? Will the stock MAP/ECU handle a little boost i.e. 5 psi?

Get an AF gauge and make sure it is stoich once you hit boost. Your map sensor can not handle any boost. Get a Missing link or check valves.
