Default why is my b18b slow??????

15.60 at 87mph

non-obd '94 b18b with no-name short ram, skunk2 intake manifold, pacesetter header, high flow cat, 2.25" piping back to a magnaflow muffler, ngk iridium plugs, and ngk wires. shouldn't i be running better than my friend who has a '94 integra rs? well i'm not. course he was running 15.8s tonight but ran a 15.4 before. atco racetrack sucks but still, 15.60 disappoints me.

My B20 is slow as well. 15.6 with slicks 105 degree track temp and 2800ft above sea level. 2.2 60ft and 85mph trap. Was running a better trap with stockers 90mph. I have all the same mods cept I just run an open header... Sk2 IM, intake DC header, FPR, BFG drag radials. It just sucks. I cant drive, I suppose thats worth a tenth or two.... I get spinage 1-2 then halfway through 2nd I hook up. It depends on track conditions and driving mostly. I think that if I get a chipped ECU so I can rev to 7500 I would net better times, but maybe not.... BTW I launch @ rev limiter...

Good Luck

I run 2.3 60' times all day long like i used to with the a6 launching at 3. i believe i can drive pretty damn well considering the a6 got me 16.0 at 84 bone stock. it was hot as hell and theres rubber everywhere. i'm also thinking about a chip.

I know a guy who has the lower compression B20 8.8 IHC and he ran 14.3 in a CRX .... So I think that there a ton of varibles and we need to try to eliminate as many as we can.....

Mine went 14.7 with a B18a on slicks. It had I/H/E. I had a 2.1 60 ft launching it at 4500. I have a J1 tranny which I think is the reason for my time. Im going to be putting an LS tranny on soon and then I will run it again to see if there is a difference.

its annoying me a lot. i also have an exedy sport clutch, and it grabs pretty hard. I tried launching at 3250 or something like that, and ran a 16, so i'm staying with the 3k rpm launch. these are the possible factors so far: #1 track temp and humidity: very hot and very humid. #2 header gets super hot, heating up everything, and my intake tube and manifold will burn the hell out of your hand if its nice and warmed up. #3 my first time running it. first time i ran the a6, i ran 3 16.5s. second time i went, 16.0s. #4 mechanical problem. the ecu is fucked up, and i don't throw codes. i had no O2 sensor and i didnt throw a code for that(its since been reinstalled) #5 the ys1 is no good for a b18a/b. just too short. I want to run 14s. You'd think i could drop a second after spending $2500+. ADD: if my timing belt was off a tooth on the crank, would it sound incredibly wrong?

It is all about launching consistency and practice unless of course there is something mechanically wrong with your engine. The first time I ran with my b16a i ran a 15.4. Needless to say i was pretty disappointed considering I ran a 15.5 with m zc motor. After get some more runs under my belt and learning how to launch and shift the b16a I got that down to a 14.8. Just keep trying and make sure that you timing is good both ignition and cam timing. Good Luck with the setup

i'll take another look at the t-belt and get someone who knows what they are doing to adjust the ignition timing. but i'm leaving for school tomorrow, so i won't be getting to the track for awhile. thanks.

there are too many varibles.... track temp elevation ect.... I think that the more you race the better, you get a better feel for what the car is doing... I feel the same way 2500 and Im running 15s? I guess I dont feel to bad. I know a ZC hatch that runs high 16s.... (hes an ok drivber btw) I think its location and driving that plays a big part in things...
