Default New 1/4 times from last night at Bristol

Well this is the first time i took my car to the track with the b18b in.
Lemme go through the excuses first:
o2 sensor throwing code
passanger weighing 200 lbs
full interior
Sound deading for stereo, lots of it, at least 2 layers on every interior panel.

Heres everything from the slips:
1st Run:
R/T - .592
60' - 2.540
330 - 7.110
1/8 - 10.918
MPH - 64.71
1000 - 14.183
1/4 - 16.978
MPH - 82.24

Beat a nissan truck by 2.6 seconds on that run, woo hoo

2nd Run:
R/T - .546
60' - 2489
330 - 6.953
1/8 - 10.737
MPH - 65.10
1000 - 13.969
1/4 - 16.725
MPH - 82.53

Lost to a newer gt stang on that run, had him till about halfway down the track.

My mods if you wana know...
94 B18b
GSR Tranny
Intake
No cat, 2.25 piping, ansa exhuast
Short shifter

I wasnt too happy with the times. But it made me feel ebtter seeing a tt rx7 running 15's and a subaru running 15 psi running 15 flat. Elevation must be a factor up here in dem der mountains.

Is it just me or I took a civic with a swap to drag race and I pulled a 16.7, I wouldn't post about it even if I had 500lbs worth of excuses.

And look at his 60 foot times. You need to work on those.

What tires and pressure are you running? Also man, tell that lardass to get out of your car and pull some stuff out when you run.

Well i thought about not posting it. But just thought i would for people to look at. Maybe it will help someone deciding what swap to do in a coupe.

You dont have to be an *******. People like you are why i dont post much on here. I just read **** instead. ********'s

I took the pressure to 22 psi. The tires are michelen pilot sports. I launched at right under 5. It go to about 7 before it hooked up, then went back to around 5 or so.

What can i do to improve the 60'? Im more looking for help on what to do the get better times then have people make fun of my times.

Well, for one, don't launch that high. I'm sure you can't be getting much traction like that.

I say go to 2500-3500 RPM and feather the clutch. A lil wheel spin is alright but not as much as you are probably getting it dropping the clutch at 5K.

And don't get so defensive about the other members. I think they are acting this way because it doesn't seem like you care at all that you ran a horrible time. I mean, get your friend out and thats .2 seconds right there. You don't seem to prepare for the race and want to get the best time possible.

When you launch do you just completely let off the clutch?

Don't. Bring it to 3K or whatever you want to launch at then when the 3rd yellow lights up let off slightly on the clutch and press the gas. Do both until the clutch is not depressed and you're at WOT. It's hard to explain.

Do you understand?

Your reaction times seem pretty damn good: that's a problem. Why? Because it means you're paying more attention to the tree and beating the other dood out of the hole than you are to your complete and utter lack of driving skills.

Feather the clutch = let it out about 50% faster than you would driving normally from a stoplight. Dropping the clutch in a B18B coup at 5000rpms is rediculously stupid. 2800rpm feathering should cut .2 seconds off your launch, which may translate to .4 seconds overall.

The oxygen sensor code is an easy fix and shouldn't be a problem at all if you did the swap correctly. Seeing as it forces most cars to run in limp mode, that should be/should've been your first priority.

Look online for SAE correction factors for your time (due to elevation) and then see if it makes any difference.

As for the "TT rx7 running 15's and the Subaru at 15psi running 15 flat": that doesn't make a **** of difference and shouldn't make you feel any better about your times. I've seen a modified TT rx7 run consistent 17 second passes at Dragway 42 and many an Impreza at 15+ pounds running high 14's/low 15's.

Focus on improving your driving, not beating other cars. The tree is a noobie's enemy.

just to let you know, my car runs 16.6 at a 2700 foot elevation.

the corrected time would be 16.1

my mods are azenis tires, and i took off the intake and exhaust. represent

Damn, I ran a 16.5 with intake/exhaust/17's. I think you just need more practice, and tell you friend to get out.

Launches are soooo important when drag racing.

My advice is to practice practice practice. I remember the first time I went to the track – it was very sad (fun, but sad). Before I knew it, I was shaving tenths of a second off. It's all about the launch. The feathering of the clutch is one of the biggest parts when dragracing. Too much, much clutch and you'll have wheel spin. Too little and you'll just be slow.

Good luck!

An 02 code will not put you into limp mode.
