Default if you could have a do over...

for all you people with a swap or turbo, if you could do it over, would you go to the other side? i dont want to turn this into a swap vs turbo issue, thats not the intent of this post. i want the people with experiences on a turbo or a swap to share their info, their headaches. not just the "all motor " or "the pshhhh ownz j00". looking for real informative answers that you really dont know about until you actually go and do it. enlighten us!

i put a b18b1 motor in my eg hatch and then i supercharged it. i thought the supercharger was okay at first, then it just sucked. it didn't give the power i wanted to have.

i then sold the jrsc and thought about going getting a gsr motor and selling my b18b swap.

then i ran into a good deal on a turbo kit for my motor. i thought i would give it one more shot with boosting and see how it turns out. i bought the turbo kit, installed it, and now, i wouldn't go back to wanting a gsr motor now.

boosted ls =

I had a GReddy turbo kit on my Y8. If I could do it all over again, I'd swap the motor. There's no way I could've legally passed CA smog. If I swapped to like a B16A or B18C1, I'd be legal. If I went that route, who knows what mods I would've bought.

Considering I got a solid 3 weeks out of my boosted EF, and my EG just got a GSR, I'm going to have to say swap. The power of boost is NUTS! But seriously, I don't have to overthink startup and monitor every aspect with the GSR. Jump in and go. Plus, it all plugged right in.

Yeah, but when I put it on my Y8, it voids its 50-state legality. If a cop bothered to check the CARB EO, he'd see that it's only emissions legal for the 5G Civic, not my 6G. And I ditched the GReddy blue box, and my fuel setup definitely wouldn't pass smog unless I thoroughly tweaked the a/f. Oh, I'm in Sac, too. Nice to see more Sac members on H-T!

hm i was planning for a turbo setup pending money(which would be a year+) but after reading about the reliability of a swap, im rethinking. yea i know about how if you tune it right then the turbo is just as reliable and whatnot... hmmmmm well at least i have something to think about during school
