Default problems with a vx..

i have a 1992 vx hatch. its all stock except for rims and i hate the ones i have. any ways i was wondering what would make my car kinda hesitate under 2500 and not do it above 3000 rpms. i put fuel cleaner in it and i was wondering if the fuel filter may be clogged. the stock motor has 153xxx miles on it. i just need some opions and i also have no clue hwere the filter is. also does anyone know the overall diameter of the stock vx wheels. i have theses stupid 17s and i think my speedo is way off. at like 3500 rpm it only says im going 70-75. my wifes ex is at close to 80 or better at that rpm in fifth....any help would be cool...

my 92 LX is 75 MPH at 3,000 RPM and your tranny is a lot longer...so the numbers dont sound THAT much off...follow a friend and do the same speed, and see how far off you are

sounds like a vtec-e problem

vtec-e engages over 2500 / 3000 rpm if im correct, and when it is not in vtec, the motor only uses 12 valves instead of 16

your vtec does not switch on @ 4000 rpm. it switches on at 2200 if you have the stock motor/ecu.
