Default NOS Octane boosters

I had several bottles of these and wonder if anyone had experience with them?
It claims that it will boost octane level from my 94 Sunoco to...around 98+.
Would this be beneficial for my car on track or autocross events?
I had it on last year, and the exhaust smells really bad and have thicker white smokes coming out.

Octane boosters really dont do much.
The NOS racing formula however has a small amount of nitromethane additive.
That might do something, but dont expect much of an octane boost and really
why would you need it? running 13:1 compression or something?

Yeah, it's the "Racing formula"....I think it adds 15 PHP to my car.

I am using a bottle in every tank of gas for my car!!
Because Yoshio said he can only program my ECU for 94 octane with the 11.3CR I am running right now, but I can only get 91 octane gas here. So instead of retard the timing back to 13 degree as recommended by Yoshio, I decide to spend some money and put in a bottle of NOS Racing Formula Octane Booster and keep running 16 degree timing, and so far there is no sign of detonation, so I guess that damn thing really work!!

octane booster wont help you raise octane.
11.3:1 cr is really LOW too. You can run up to 12.5:1 on 93 octane.
And if you think 2 octane points really matters, think again.

Read your owners manual. Octane boosters that contain MMT can damage your o2 sensors and your catalytic converter. It might not hapen over night but after time of heavy use could. Read the botle, NOS, VP, and Outlaw all contain MMT. The NX and 104+ octain boosters do not, as far as i know, the 104+ is probably the safest to use on a regular basis. I have been using 1 bottle of the 104+ off road formula every third tank full for the past year now with no problems. I definately can feel a diference, but the highest octane fuel available here is 90. If you can allready get 92, 93, or 94 octane fuel the octane boost will not make a difference, that is unless you are running 13.0:1 compression.

actually, a friend of mine has a built b16b (1.8 kit etc) with a ecu tuned for 99 octane and when not running on the track, he runs pump gas with nos racing formula octane booster ( i got a few cases for him) and his car doesn't ping when it is used. granted he doesn't run too hard on the street, but it does ping without the octane booster. so, it actually does something....
