2000 si grinds when going from nuetral to third
OK, so i'll be cruising down a hill in nuetral and when i want to go to shift to third all it does is grind. now it doesn't grind when i'm going from 4th to 3rd only neutral to third and it only happens above 60 MPH. now i have made sure the clutch was all the way down and it just grinds. does any one know what this could be?
Well sorry to say there dude but your gonna have some bad syncros. B16 trannys suck ***** as far as syncros go so youll prolly need a rebuild in about 20k miles or so. My B16 tranny is out of a 2000 SI and 3rd gear sucks bad. About the only way to go is to get a ITR tranny. They have dual cone syncros which are much stronger.
its natural for b- series tranny to grind...stupid honda built crazy *** motors but didnt take the time to build better trannys...1 point of advice...just double clutch out of 2nd...and then throw it into 3rd..u should be fine...i have the same problems
its due to redlining / racing .

Yea, and depending how strong you are you can get a nice grind from 1st to 2nd too :-P I know I do.

I remember hearing something about how short shifters will eventually damage syncros .......... someone back me up on this?
How long have you had it???
