Default turbo reliability?

hey guys, I just bought a 94 si and i was wondering...
how reliable is a turbo h23? the car has 165k miles on it and i really dont think it would last long going FI unless i rebuilt it (right?), but if i did i would have the option of tc'ing it and i was curious as to how long the typical turbo setup would last me in terms of mileage and also wondering how reliable in general the motor would be. thanks

well as long as your engine is in good shape and it is tuned properly, engine mileage shouldn't be a factor. i know there are some people on this board who had turbocharged 150k mile motors and are still fine because of correct tuning.

Pop off the valve cover and see how it looks under there... What you find here is a pretty pretty good indicator as to the shape of the motor in whole. A motor that has had a hard life will have scorched oil on the bottom of the valve cover and oil sludge in the oil cavaties.
