help, urgent.. clutch question
Just found out my clutch master cyl. and slave cyl are leaking. The guy said it'll be alright for a while if I keep filling the resevoirs every so often. Anyone changed these parts out by thmeselves? I really don't wanna give the dealer 400 more dollars for this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, I've never done it myself but I'd be surprised if you could make it last more than a few days. Mine started going and was gone the next day. You'd have to put fluid in it pretty often. As for the price, talk to the guys at the dealership and see if any of them work on the side. My guy gets stuff at cost and did it for me for like $180 rather than the $300 I was quoted for the next cheapest.
Sorry can't offer more help.

i've done it, very quick and easy. If you know how to bleed brake lines, you're set. If you're doing this yourself, get one of those self brake bleeding kits and use it for the clutch slave cylinder when you bleed, makes life a whole lot easier. Also go get a flare wrench or a crowfoot that is a flare type, i think it was either a 10mm or 12mm that you need. A flare wrench wraps almost all the way around the six sided pipe fitting instead of the normal wrench where it only grips two sides. This gives you more leverage to remove the pipe and not strip the thing. Make sure you drain the reservoir before you remove it. and you might as well clean the reservoir while you have it out. Doesn't hurt right. Other than that, you can get away with a small bottle of brake fluid, but to be safe i'd get two or just one big bottle, valvoline synthetic if you so please. Most likely, it's only one of the two and not both, look for fluid leakage, probably the master cylinder, but if you're changing one, might as well change both. I went generic, cost about 70 for everything, if you go honda, will be a lot more, your choice, i haven't had any problems.
