Default Removing steering column cover

OK I'm replacing the stalk switch and I have to remove the steering column cover in order to get to the 2 retaining screws on the inside. I've remove the lower instrument panel and have removed all the retaining screws on the steering wheel cover.... BUT HOW DO I TAKE IT OFF?? In my Hayne's manual it says to just seperate the 2 halves but it feels like they are mated together. Yeah I know it sounds like a stupid question but its buggin the hell out of me!! Thanks to all those who can help out!

they should just be held together by plastic clips on the edges of both pieces.

If you are sure that you have all of the screws out:
Put your hands on the back of it and push it together
and pull down at the same time. If you have all of
those screws out then it will be hard to break it.

the 2 pieces are just really hard to pry apart sometimes. once you have the 3 screws out, just pull basically. simple as that.

Yeah I'm at work right now so I can't get down to my car to start tryin this. So where exactly are these plastic clips located? I'm just scared that if I try to pull them apart something is going to break and I have to pay for another part.

sometimes one does break, they are small slip-in tabs on one half and they slip into small pockets on the other half.
