Default Very newbie-ish exhaust question.

Everyone pays like 500+ for a catback exhaust and all that, by why couldnt you go to your local muffler shop and just have like 2.5 or 2.25 pipe from the cat back with a nice muffler on the end? I mean, yeah, it would be disgusting looking if someone looked under your car, but if you're a poor man, would this even work?

Most muffler shops are crush bent instead of mandrel bent. So there is no use of spending 380 or whatever you quoted.

Between 2.25 and 2.5.

I have a custom exhaust that is mandrel bent, looks nice, flows well and cost 1/2 as much as a 'performance' catback

I honestly think its a great idea and if I hadnt gotten a GREAT deal on mine, thats what I would have done. Make sure to get a resonator also though!

call around to different shops..the mandrel bends come in sections and the shop needs not only the people that can work with the bends but also know how to cut and fit..these systems are every much as good as the cat-backs out of the box but not as pretty

besides, like someone said..its cheaper but u still have to pay for the labor for the install

Do honda civics SI's come with stainless steel exhausts? because i was just told they did and well, any exhaust i've ever seen come off a stock car doesnt look too stain-less.
