Default oil light problem

yeah, my oil light starts flashing if i have to hit the brakes hard or if i take a Really tight turn...any explanation for this? just fyi my front engine seal is leaking oil and i figure that must have something to do with it... and the valve covers are leaking oil as well. any clues would be much appreciated, thanks

That's not a good sign. My car did that once, and I had about a quart of oil in my car. so..

the oil pump is mechanical, and the oil pressure sending unit doesn't sense the amount of oil pressure in your motor. Check your oil level frist off. Add if needed. If the problem is still there check your sending unit with an oil pressure gauge. The unit is located right below the oil filter. Just unscrew the sending unit and screw in the pressure gauge and crank the car over a few time( remove the distributor wire from the coil). check the oil pressure with your Helm's manual and see if it is in spec.

I would say oil level is low. I had this happen when my oil pan seal was bad. The oil is displaced when the car is either stopping hard or cornering hard thus making it think that there is none in there. Yes there is some in there but not enough. I wouldn't drive it until the oil is filled back up.

If you check your oil level and it is fine, then most likely your oil pump is going bad.
