Default question about swap problems.

ok. i have a 91 integra and i'm swappin in a 98 b18b1. i'm using the place racing side and transmission mounts. the engine is sittin about .5" too high. it brings the exhaust pipe up to the point of it touching the shift linkage. now here are my questions.

1. is there a height difference between the 98 valve covers and the 90-94 valve covers?
2. i'm gonna use .5" shims to lower the engine down....any problems that might come from this? i'de be using either brass or aluminum to help with vibrations. could this cause more stress on the mounting bolts?

i'm hoping that shimming the mounts will take care of the exhaust problem. cause also the valve cover seems to be very close to the hood. i dont want the engine smackin the hood when i'm shifting. thanks for any help.

1. yes 96-01 (If not mistaken) Have a diffrent Valve cover than 90-95, Same engine.

2. Why would your engine sit to high? It should fit just right in to your engine bay.

i didnt ask if they were different. i know they are. i asked if there's a height difference.

i have no idea why its sitting high. thats why i'm asking. maybe someone can shed some light on the situation for me.

ok..figured out what was wrong. the f*cking b pipe flange is messed up. the dude who redid the welds for me put about a 2 mm gap in the thing which is pushing the cat end up about 2".

so should i grind and re weld the flange or try to mandrel a bend to drop it down?
