MPFI conversion, common problems??
Ok, I have an 89 DX hatch and the harness has been converted to MPFI for the D15B7 with an 89 PM6. I bought the car with that swap, so I don't know what the changes are.... The car ran great for about three weeks, I blew the tranny, got a new one, put it in, and the car wont start.
When I put the key to the start position, the e-brake light in my cluster lights up and the CEL goes off and there is just one click coming from under the dash somewhere. I was throwing codes 6 and 10. I fixed those, reset the ECU... No codes, but it still wouldn't start. Then codes 6, 7, 10, and 20 popped up. I reset it again and it was just 20....
I did have one problem with the dizzy, it would spark sometimes and wouldn't other times (I don't know what code, I had no clue what I was looking for then
). Just going down the road it would buck violently. I tore apart the dizzy and measured all of the resistances and everything, and everything matched up. I put it all back together and it worked just fine; so I figured it was just loose wires. I haven't put in a 'known good' ECU, but I think its just bad splices maybe. What should I look for? Thanks in advance.

eh? I took them off to take out the engine. They are back on though. I made sure that I checked those and all of the starter connectors and alternator connectors. All of the fuses are fine too....
I haven't done anything with any of the wires. When I took out the engine, I just unplugged all of the sensors, marked them, and replaced them when I put the engine back in. I think from now on I'll take my chances with pulling the tranny from the bottom....
When I did all of the measurements on the distributor, I just put the multimeter plugs into the harness/sensor plug. So with that said, no, I didn't mess with the white wires on the dizzy.

Well, just after I last posted, I went out and hooked up my battery again (I disconnected it to reset my ECU), and turned the key, only a code 13. I reset it again, and no codes but same problem. I took almost all of the sheathing off of the harness, and found no bare wires, got out the multimeter, and found one open curcuit, fixed it, plugged it back in, and got codes 6, 8, and 10..... I would say that either I have a minor short somewhere and its messing with the ECU, or the computer is bad; which brings me to my next question.
The only guy I found willing to let me plug in his ECU is a 93 Civic LX with the same engine w/auto. I know there are problems with AT/MT as far as ECU's go, but will that ECU work on my 89? Given that my harness was fine, and all of the sensors are fine, would that ECU crank the engine? TIA.
