Intermediate Shaft questions
Got a 1990 accord JDM H22A, this setup eats axles, so about every 6 months i have to change them out, lately its been wearing them out quicker than normal. Checked out the axles and noticed there being about 2-3mm play between the axles hub and the intermediate shaft, could my int shaft have play and cause more wear on the axles? Is this why my axles are going out faster? Anyone ever heard of an int shaft having play before? If this is the case, of course I would like to change out the int shaft, anyone know a good play to get it? I can get it for 160 through my dads work, anyone know a better deal, let me know, thanx guys.
http://www.car-part.com is a great place.
the lude axles are a bit too long, the inside joint goes to hell really fast. If you run all accord stuff (axles/int. shaft) you will be golden!

thanx, i do have everything accord except for rear motor mount obviously. Just needed to know if anybody else has run into this problem before. Ive had the swap for about a year now, everything runs fine except i just go through axles really bad for being na with a stock h22
which int. shaft you wanting to buy? I have an almost new 5th gen int shaft in my basement that would work fine. and no, there should be no 'free play' .. that sucker should be fully enguaged.
Well, as long as it fits the 5spd F22A it should work fine.
Accord94DX: Ive always ran the F22A int shaft and axles, the F22A's axles just aren't strong enough to handle the normal power of the H22A, sorry i didnt clarify what axles and int shaft i was using. thanx.

i would have to totally disagree with the comment about handling the power.
i have a 4th gen and the autzone rebuilt axles i use handle the power just fine.
i make 175 hp to the ground all motor and then on top of that ran a 60 shot of nitrous for quite some time. I have had ONE cv boot fail and that was on an axle that had been on my car for 45,000 miles.

with a swap theres no telling about what kind of problems your going to face, thats fine if yours have lasted a long time, but for everyone else, including 4 of my friends that have the same swap, its a problem that we deal with regularly. We change our axles at least once per year.
thats pretty crazy out of hte dozen or so people i know first hand with h22's in accords, none have had problems like thata, only 2 have had axles fail with one being becuase his engine did not sit straight from wrong mount useage and the othe from launching too high on drag radials. the best of them had a 200hp all motor engine with a 75 shot and over 100 runs on the track and is still on the same axles he put on with the swap 3 years ago.
