depends what you want? you want vtec then go with the z6 or y8. dont want then people go with the a6 or b7. for the most part i think they're all the same for boost. D series have weak rods so all cant handle all that much boost with stock internals. i think most people just get certain motors according to what their OBD is and of course vtec or not. well and price
umm... no.
Z6 bottom end is supposedly stronger than the Y8 however noone has ever explained why. But I can assure you that these are the two strongest D bottom ends. as far as heads The Z6 will flow significantly more up top and the Y8 will give you greater midrange. check out Endyne's web site "the old one" He gives a pretty in depth write up about the pro's & cons of each.
IMO best D for boost is a Z6. I took the only strong point of the Y8 and put it on my Z6 and I was very happy (I.E. the Y8's intake manifold)

anyone wanna trade there z6 plus cash for my all motor d-series? (a6 block , y8 head, jg vt35 cam, skunk2 cam gear, centerforce clutch, polished crank, and other stuff)??
hehe i want boost!

Z6 block with A6 head... Stronger bottom-end, no vtec crap to dial in, and lower compression for high boost even on daily driven cars... 8.4/1 compression.
Y8 intake, A6 head, Z6 block, HF CRX = best for the money..

The major difference between the y8 and the z6 is not the rods (which are the same) but the pistons. The Y8 pistons rings are higher in the piston, so they dont withstand detination as well.
Other then the pistons the blocks are almost identical.
