Default smokey turbo conversion CRX

anyone got any tips for making my engine less smokey? It is a 1.6 CRX with turbo conversion, on idle it is poring out white, greyish smoke. Fuel PSI is at about 45PSI and 390cc injectors are in being controlled by SAFC set to about -30% its smells to rich thou and cuts out on idle if i set the SAFC any lower. Any of you guys got smokey engines when you started up your turboed car? It only seems to have happened since i put the injectors in also
thanks

It might not be the engne smoking, the turbo could have bad seals and leaking oil. You really need to have those injectors tuned. That is a big jump from stock and you car will run to rich. I would get a wideband A/F analyzer and put the stock injectors back in. That way you can see if you are lean under wide open throttle and really need the injector up grade. I am afraid with that big of a jump in injector size that the SAFC might not be able to tune out the larger injector.

that big of a jump? the injectors are only 390cc thou? i hear of others using 450cc injectors so surely it would be easier for me to achive a nice clean idle with SAFC.. Could the ignition timing have anything to do with it? I have left it unchanged at the moment. I have a B&M fuel pressure reg too set to 45PSI.
thanks

whitish smoke sounds like it migh be burning antifreeze. An engine running too rich will have very sooty and black smoke. The fuel pressure seems a bit high. Is the 45psi reading at idle with the vacuum hose conected or not? I am not familiar with the SAFC. I have worked with standalone units mostly. I don't think the timing would have anything to do with a poor idle. If you have it set by factory specs then you are fine. I think that your injectors might be getting a poor signal at light engine loads under 2000 RPM. Is there an adjustment for idle settings or does the SAFC only adjust at specific RPM blocks?
