Bolts backed out of the Flywheel .....Again
Well just took the motor out of the car and found that all the bolts in the flywheel were loose and the flywheel has abrasions where all the bolts are and where the crank meets it. the crank also has abrasions and scorch marks and will have to be changed.
the same thing happened a year ago when my car was under warrantee and now it has 41,000 miles on it and I'm looking at the second bottom end rebuild.
i called the dealer and they say that they need to get corporate invoved. i think they should pay no matter how it happened, an over rev shouldn't cause the bolts to come loose from the flywheel.
any opinions?

Sounds like the flywheel bolts aren't being torqued to the correct ft. lbs. Dealer should definitely cough up a free loner and fix motor at no charge!
Same **** happened to me.
I had like 6700 miles on my '01 Prelude when I over-revved it past redline (3rd to 2nd) and my car got phucked!
Took it to the dealer and they found 8 loose bolts on my flywheel, stripped threads on my crank, and my clutch exploded.
My car still idles kinda rough. I think my valves got bent but were never fixed.
Did you over-rev the motor?
Anyways... I granny shift from 3rd to 4th now.

your suppsed to be medium "lock tite" (not permanent) on your flywheel bolts.. and torque them down to spec... failure to do this would also have that happen.. i've heard that 8-9k shifts will have the clutch explode also.

over reving will casue the flywheel bolts to back out... sepecially if you miss the gear and zing the engine up real quick and then clutch in real quick. the sudded aceleration and deceleration jerks everything around and the bolts come out.
i have never really seen this on a stock flywheel.. mostly on aluminum flywheels. if you have this happen deff get a new flywheel, chances are the bolt holes are fucked up
