Can anyone recommend any shops that will drill holes for my harnessbelts in So. California?
I just need a hole below the seat for the 5th point, and a hole to the driver's right (in the tranny tunnel) for the lap belt. A race shop that has experience with this sort of thing is preferred, so they can install it properly and apply the proper sealant, etc...
I'm in the San Diego area but I'm willing to drive out to anywhere in Southern California. Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
~Nam

call Rush Motorsports (619) 337-2979 , they are in La Mesa ask for Lewis hes the owner. Tell him I sent you.
Drilling holes in your own car seems to be scary ( I was scared when I installed my roll bar), but it is rather simple. The following are general directions. It should probably take you about 1 hour to do.
1. Temporarily remove/pull back carpet. 2. Mark hole 3. Use a very good/new/sharp drill bit to go through sheet metal, which is very, thin 4. I would put some waterproof silicone or whatever (find at Home Depot or your neighborhood auto store) on the backing plate then install with the correct hardware 5. Put carpet back and then punch hole through carpet. Done.
Since it seems you live in California, you won't have to worry about salt or other corrosive things.
Hardware that you need:
Backing Plates
You can either bolt the harness to the backing plate or use one of those quick release buckles with an eye bolt.

One minor addition - when we used to import Willans harnesses from England, we would suggest to people that they grind off the corners of those off-the-shelf backing plates. They work just like an old-fashioned juice can opener if they are pulled the right way, poking that point right through the sheetmetal...

I was just afraid that I might screw up big time and drill through something that might be expensive to replace. I found this one website http://www.sandmracing.com and it has a pretty good writeup on how to drill holes for harnessbelts and the autopower roll bar (which I plan to get fairly soon). I read through it and it sort of inspired some confidence to do it myself.
One thing, the backing plates that I have came with the install material. It is a plate with the nut already welded on. However, the plate seems to be a bit smaller than the one in the picture. I'd estimate its a 2x4 inch rectangle.
Thanks for all the responses. I do appreciate it!

The above link should have the hardware that you need. I also used that S&M website to install my rollbar.
