Vafc....how exactly does it work...PLEASE READ
ok, i began to thread jack, and i dont wanna do that anymore so im gonna make my own....i have a 94 gsr with an intake and a vtec controller....and i recently discovered that my vtec kicks at 4400 and not 5800 like i thought, the secondary opens at 5800, and this entire time ive had my vtec controller set at vti 5900 and vto 5700 thinking it balances out to 5800, but im thinking that im an idiot, and if someone could explain to me in detail how to change this so it kicks at 4400 and explain what i should have the rest of the settings on, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
Settings, 6in 6 out, 4cyl arrow pointed up and to the right, the lower vtec setting is when vtec turns on under acceleration, the higher number is when it turns off under deceleration. There is no balancing out. My VAFC came with an english manual, everything is explained in detail there. I can't remember exact names of the setting from my computer, been a while since i've touched it.
edit.... I think i mislead you on the vti vto, just read the manual as i'm not sure without checking it out in my car.

I think you should get on a dyno to determine the best place for VTEC to engage. If not, take the controller off and let the ECU do it by itself.
You can't use someone else's settings. You have to tune the car if you want to get your money's worth. Otherwise it's worth nothing.

I set my vtec engagement point buttdyno style before I went in to get it tuned. I was off by 100rpm... I think you can get pretty close just by feel, but fuel correction is another story. That was the main reason I went to get tuned.

i understand i need to go to the dyno, but i have it set currently at 5800, but i think thats way off, i was just looking for a number i should be around...thats why i asked 4400...what do ya think
set it back to stock
4400 then 4000 is the stock GSR settings. Don't mess with it at all. Just let your ecu do its **** until you get the car tuned. So, just change back to the settings I gave you and you'll be all set.

good post : i have a skunk2 intake with a bounch of other mods and i noticed the vtec engages much earlier
I think it's because the skunk2 is a straight flow and the original gsr manifold has a dual butterfly. i could be wrong
if the vafc helps you let me know , ill buy 1 tommorow
thx for the info

Huh???? If you're still using the stock ecu, vtec engagement is at the same rpm...regardless. A VAFC is nothing more than a tuning tool, not a "mod" or whatever.
