Opinions on Skunk2 D series IM.
Some people have commented that the new SKunk2 IM is just the B series manifold that has been modded to fit the D series head and that it was absolute crap on the dyno, not producing any power gains over stock. I wondered if anyone here had any info that would legitimately refute this claim, and convince me to buy one.
the runners on that manifold look way to long to me, wouldnt you loose some power with longer runners than factory? i would think that the shorter the runners the more power because the air is more condensed going into the combustion chamber.with the longer runners the air wouldnt be as condensed because it takes more time to get to the chamber.

there was a post about them 2 manifolds.. with pics.. but i cant find it... the guy was talking about the runners being straight on the skunk2 for better high end... and the y8 runners been curved for better low end... the intake chamber even looks bigger on the y8 manifold...

I have heard many good things about the y8 intake mani but i am yet to see any dyno numbers that say so. Also, isn't the IACV on the y8 on the throttle body?

Compare these runners to those of a D16 and you will see that the D16 runners are MUCH longer. This manifold looks like its made for fully built motors running at high rpms. I would be very surprised to see it gain anything over a stock manifold, expecially a Y8, unless the motor was fully built.
I am disapointed.
They obviously started wiht a clean sheet of paper and came out with a very tame looking manifold. I wish they had made it with tapered runners starting big at the plenum and narrowing at the head. I have seen what endyn does to Skunk2 manifolds and I was wishing they would learn from that.
Here is a shot of how much better flowing Endyn makes the skunk2 B series manifolds. According to their flow bench, it flows better than individual throttle bodies.
