aircondition temp at 110+ degrees?
well early this summer i had to fix my ac where the freon leeked out due to my no-namer intake hitting the little black line that delivered freon and punctured a small hole where it leeked out then the local shop replced that line and injected more freon, yet its not icey cold... but did make it a bit more cooler. the mechanics comment was "these integra gs-r's were never meant to handle las vegas heat at nearl 120 degrees this year and thats why its not as cold" he told me also that since honda's ac compressor's belt runs off the same as the motors or sumpn so more i rev and harder i drive while ac is on the more it will not be cold? true or false? and anyone else driving around in vegas or anywhere with 110+ and have icey cold air during afternoon times?
Integra a/c was never ICY cold IMHO.
A/C works to convert the air temp and vary on efficiency. It depends on the variance between the temp outside and the a/c temp setting, i.e. 65degrees F. If its 70 degrees out, the A/c only has to work to convert 5 degrees so it will feels cold. If youre pushing 100+ the small A/C unit we have can only handle so much and probably bring it down to 78 at best running full steam.
The more power you produce, the harder the a/c works. The draw on power is what has many folks run without the a/c in favor of cruising faster. try running the a/c at full throttle and you'll know what im referring to.
My a/c was basically blowing air a few weeks ago. I filled it up with dyed freon and couldnt find the leak. As long as it keeps me comfortable in 90+ weather here, i'm quite content.

i dont think our little imports came with nice Ac's unlike the german crap and the bigger imports,
lexus and toyo family mobile's. i think most if not all of our small imports, the ac turns off when accelerating
hard or harder than normal. like certain amount of the throttle open = ac off. so dont drive too hard jus
keep the rpm around 3 - 4 grand.

Puttering around in traffic in 105° Florida weather yields "cool" but not cold air coming out of my ducts. Once I hit the interstate, it gets a lot colder.
If I keep mine on recirculate, it will get pretty cold eventually. It just takes a little time. I've had my car all over Texas in the summer, and no complaints here. Actually, sometimes it gets so cold I have to turn it down because it freezes my face.
yeah, the integra AC isn't that great. As long as I keep the revs up and the recirc button on it stays pretty cool. It's nothing like my BMW 328's AC which is nice and cold. It's really no match for my old '84 Camry's AC...that thing made your nose hurt it got so cold, even at 110 degrees
acuraholic made a good point. REC is key to keeping the cold air in the car.

i live in az. and i have developed a method to get the a/c colder then normal... or as cold as a stock integra a/c can get... turn the a/c to the lowest position and on then drive around for while the windows down at 65 hahah... the longer you let the a/c unit circulate the colder it gets. after a couple minbs turn it on to desired rate and it will be cooler then if you jus blasted it as soon as the engine is warm....
also if you are the only one in the car turn all of the vent but the drivers off....
doing this helps me cope with the heat of the desert.
i did notice whileon the highway the a/c is a lot cooler then street driving

Time to bring this thread back to like. What is the reason behind this AC being cooler while crusing the freeway? My AC is killing my sperms on traffic but as soon as I hit the open freeway my AC comes back to life. Is this a symptom of bad condenser/etc.? Can you override that secret switch?

i dont believe that comment " out little imports dont come with very good ac" my car blows 38* out of my dash in 110* temperatures in phoenix. get that **** recharged if its not blowing cold
I like how all the AZ guys click the A/C thread
I just have it on REC, all the way cold and on the secound highest setting.
Does the job for me, also keeping the windows cracked a little helps too when you park your car. I live in a smaller town so not to worry about theives.
